Phillip Bosson
Titled APA Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist

Masters of Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy -La Trobe University
Phil has a long history of working with professional sports teams, including 5 seasons as Head Physiotherapist with the Newcastle Knights. As a result, he has gained valuable experience in managing both acute and chronic sports injuries, rehabilitating athletes post-surgery and developing strength and running programs to return athletes to elite performance. Before his time with the Knights he worked at a number of local practices with a sports focus, gaining valuable experience in managing everyday body complaints.
Phil enjoys managing contact and game related injuries including ACL and MCL tears, hamstring and calf injuries, shoulder dislocations and ankle sprains.
His experience working as an on field sports trainer and in professional rugby league makes him one of the most experienced physiotherapists at managing these acute injuries.
He also loves the challenge of diagnosing and managing long term, niggling complaints that just won't go away!
Outside of work, you’ll find Phil spending some quality time with his young family, fitting in some training sessions around work and enjoying a swim at the beach.
Tori McArdle
Bachelor of Physiotherapy - University of Newcastle
As well at working at Portside Physio, Tori is currently a physio with the Newcastle Knights women's teams, supporting both the development and elite squads. She is excited to work with top-level athletes and assist in their rehabilitation processes. Tori is also looking forward to rejoining the NRLW squad in 2025.
Along with her high level Sports and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy experience Tori has worked in the field of Neurological Rehabilitation.
Tori has completed her level 1 and 2 dry needling courses and can integrate this technique into her practice.
Tori’s special interests include: field sport athletes, female athletes, runners, CrossFit enthusiasts, and general gym-goers.

Jas Whitelaw
Bachelor of Physiotherapy - University of Newcastle
Jas, a proud Novocastrian, recently returned to Newcastle after 16 months in New Zealand, where she gained diverse experience across rugby and cricket. She began her career with the Newcastle Knights in 2020 before relocating to New Zealand, where she became Head Physiotherapist for the Tauranga Sports Raptors, the Bay of Plenty Rugby Steamers Development squad in the National Provincial Championships, and the Inside Running Rugby Academy.
In addition to Rugby, Jas worked in First Grade Men’s Cricket, working with both Bay of Plenty Men’s and Northern Districts’ teams, and managed the rehabilitation of youth pace bowlers at Tauranga Boys College, focusing on stress-based lumbar spine injuries.
Jas has a keen interest in contact sport injuries, load-based cricketing injuries, and post-operative rehabilitation for shoulder and knee injuries. Specialising in strength and conditioning-based rehabilitation, she’s passionate about using gym-based recovery to help patients achieve their goals. She also offers specialised treatment and assessment of pace bowlers, utilising video analysis and real time bowling sessions to ensure players reach their performance goals.
When not working, Jas lives and breathes sport. She plays rugby league for South Newcastle, loves surfing, bush walking, and enjoys spending time with her border collie.

Ashlee Blanch
Bachelor of Physiotherapy - University of Newcastle
Ashlee is an experienced physiotherapist who worked with NSW Health for over 14 years prior to joining the Portside Sports Physio Team at the beginning of 2024.
She brings a wealth of experience in her special interest areas:
- Orthopaedic and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy for children and adults
- Hand therapy, including splinting, for children and adults
- Chronic pain management for adults, adolescents and young children
- Postnatal and pregnancy related musculoskeletal pain
